High school students train together at a Kabul stadium, hoping to make the Olympic try-outs.  The first woman to participate in the Olympics from post-Taliban Afghanistan, Rubina Muqimyar, competed in track and field in Athens in 2004, and carried the Afghan flag at the opening ceremonies. She was seventeen. These young athletes serve as a poignant reminder that until the Taliban were ousted in 2001, women could not leave their homes, and Afghanistan's only sports stadium was used for public executions and amputations.
