After years of working as a teacher, Rona Saifi became a cook so she could earn more money to support her family. Then, in 2004, she decided to become a journalist and left her steady job to work as a freelancer. She subsequently received one of the highest exam scores in a journalism training course, and began writing for the women-managed newspaper Rah-e-Naw. Rona currently works for a private Afghan communications company.
