Mobina Khairandish is the Director of Radio Rabia Balkhi in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, close to Uzbekistan. Launched in 2003 in honour of International Women's Day, it was one of the first independent stations set up after the fall of the Taliban. The station was named after Rabia Balkhi, a famous Afghan woman poet who was tragically killed by her brother. Mobina has a journalism degree from Balkh University and has worked as a reporter, technician and host. She also set up a women's business center at the station and travels to nearby villages to teach women business skills.
